This year the Life of Breath project will end after 5 years, around 50 research publications and countless events and activities. The Durham and Bristol teams reunited on Thursday 27 February 2020 for one last meeting and a glorious finale event in Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.

The final celebration also marked the end of the Bristol run of our Catch Your Breath exhibition. As well as the exhibition, artwork created through Life of Breath engagement activities like Letters To Your Breath was on display.

After drinks and a chance to explore, team members, including our lead researchers Prof Havi Carel and Prof Jane Macnaughton, shared their reflections on the past 5 years. The evening closed with a magnificent and moving performance of Under the Surface by The Brabant Ensemble and the University of Bristol Singers. Composed by Toby Young, this piece was inspired by Life of Breath research.

During the day, the Bristol and Durham teams met for a final research group meeting and took the opportunity to map the ‘Life of Breath universe’ – a visual representation of all the places we’ve been and hope to go in the future (with the odd black hole along the way!)
