British Society for Literature and Science Conference 2016
‘Breath in literature’ was the theme for a Life of Breath panel at the 2016 Annual Conference of the British Society for Literature and Science in Birmingham. Durham colleague and Victorian specialist Peter Garratt chaired and considered “Respiration and Inspiration: Breath in Fin de Siècle Aesthetics’. Arthur Rose (Durham) brought things up to date with “Tim Winton’s Pneumatic Materialism: Notes on Anoxia” before Naya Tsentourou (Exeter) turned to Shakespeare, discussing “Hamlet’s Windy Suspiration of Forced Breath”.
