Breath Control
Artist Caroline Wright has made a successful application to Arts Council England, in collaboration with Cambridge Junction and Life of Breath academic Professor Gene Feder, a GP with a particular interest in lung conditions. Caroline describes her piece Breath Control as follows: ‘breathe in … and out … and… don’t… stop. Breath Control is an exploration of breathing, leading to a new performance that uses the sounds of inhaled and exhaled breath as its material. This project brings together scientific, clinical, artistic, choreographic, musical and philosophical perspectives to inform a musical composition, choreographic interpretations and performance based around respiratory rates and patterns. A Breath Choir drawn from members of the public will perform in the piece’. Breath Control will be premiered at Cambridge Junction, as part of the Science Festival in March 2017.
